The "K" Is symbolic of a Karate Guy in a stance, about to deliver the powerfull sidekick, as some of you might know the story of the name sidekick, if not then here it is...
Since 1985 I have studied American Kenpo Karate, the Ed Parker system, When i was looking for a name for the exhausts in 1997/8 , i decided that as a sidekick is one of the most powerfull karate kicks, and my silencers/mufflers were producing incredible power gains over stock, and of course bolted to the side of the bike, there was the name SIDEKICK PERFORMANCE.
I had a short break from Kenpo, to establish my sidekick exhausts, so the first logo as a reminder of my training incorporated the Kenpo Karate Tiger form the Kenpo patch, also worn and seen on Elvis Presleys Guitar, I moved then for the next 8 years to the sidekick performance logo, which wsa colour coded to suit each bike, in 2005 after selling the business, to someone who wouldnt carry on making the sidekick range, but went in different directions with the business, i was still asked to make silencers from home, so to avoid any clash of interest, I used the K logo with the chinese text, that was now representetive of the karate clubs we had , named Karitsu, which is now recognised by the Federation of English Karate.
Now in australia, it would seem people love the K logo, and are asking for it, so I Have elongated the K, so it works in an oblong shaped badge, keeping it red, and the chinese text which actually reads KENPO KARATE , ( fist law) along with the word sidekick will be in black, In the kenpo world, the red represents master and the black is senior, in rank, a black belt wit red stripes to show the rank of a senior student..
So hope you like it, it will be in a polished stainless steel badge also,
