For the Second time this year, I had the pleasure of being invited back to Melbourne in Victoria, courtesy of the greatest Rockabilly events promoter Christine Bitomsky. Christines Rockabilly events are drawing crowds from all over, and as manager of the band Infernos, she sure knows how to host a rockin evening. Our first trip in February, was with Sons of sun, and along with 3 Ali kat guitars and double bass, we certainly made our mark, there in Kaniva and Oakleigh. This time again with Tony Peters as Lead guitarist with the Lincolns, we all made that same trip again, firstly stopping at the Commercial hotel at Kaniva, then into the big City, except the venue in Melbourne this time, was the Lucky 13 garage, a rockabilly dream garage, which was a step back in time. Along with South Bound Train and of course the Midnight Rocker spinning some kool.. as ... rockabilly, we had a ball. The Oriental Ali Kat Bass and Flame Vintage guitar was played along with Ali Kat no. 000 the very first guitar was also played by Bass player and vocalist from Southbound Train, David Williams. The Free for all jam session at the end of the nite, saw a young Sonyta of Sonyta and the Incinerators jump up and sing folsom prison blues on the Ali Kat Flame guitar, followed by an almost equally as young Liv Parker who got up and played rhythm on the red rooster ali kat guitar. No. 001. as well as the Green Goddess Telekat.
The Young Talented musicians didn`t end there, Sunday it was off into the City to catch up with a band called Firebird, with Ashley a 17 year old double bass player who just blew me away.. standing in for the bands bass player who apparently is off on tour with none other thab Brian Setzer. The Bass and the Flame guitar got another thrash which was awesome, finally that same day it was off to st. Kilda, to catch up with Hanks Jelopy Demons, with none other than Dave Cantrell on the Flame guitar, it took a lot of persuasion to convince him to step out of their authentic fifties style and play this hot rod looking flame guitar from the future... and he was impressed to say the least.... thanks to every one from myself Liv, Joe and the Lincolns for making us so welcome..
A rockabilly weekend in Melbourne, with The Lincolns and the Ali Katz
